bittersweet

- May 15 -

The sweetness of independence. Relying on no one and nothing but yourself. The moment when you realize, yes there are people in this world that are there for you, and you are here for those in your life who mean most, but in this moment you only have yourself, and that has to be enough sometimes. That’s the bittersweet.

“Why do I always seem to need you when you’re fleeing? Where do you go when I’m around? What have I done? I’m used to your absence, your faceless distraction. I’ve painted your patterns but found them attractive Now I’ve been leaning towards a life far more candid Though lead through the dark with your eyes as my candles. Where your life and my life’s directions can wrangle, and all of a sudden you’ve left me to handle the reasons that never forbid me to stand tall and somehow, oh somehow I found out the secret to staying alive without actually breathing”

a year and four months left

- December 14 -

I have attended a full year and a half of schooling at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California. There is one year, and four months left until I move on, and enter the industry. I have not stopped. I am constantly at work, as are all of my amazing friends and classmates. I am so proud of all of you, your work, your dedication, and for being some of the best friends I have ever had. Enjoy the holidays and be safe.

Here are my favorite images from my first portfolio.

recovered

- December 8 -

Recently, I brought in three rolls of film to be developed at the downtown cvs. They called me the next day to inform me that two of the three rolls were ready to be picked up, but that the third one was destroyed in the machine.

One of the three rolls had been sitting in my room for well over a year, and I had no recollection of what might be on it. The other two rolls were full of recent images from shoots I had done at Brooks.

Today I picked up the two rolls which survived. One of the recent rolls was the one that was destroyed, as I came to realize after flipping through the prints. The year old roll had made it, and this is what was on it.
